Federal Data Protection Act
Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Individuals (LFPDPPP for its acronym in Spanish), published on July 5th, 2010 in the "Diario Oficial de la Federación", aims to protect PERSONAL DATA in possession of individuals and regulate its legitimate, controlled and informed processing, to guarantee the privacy and the right to informational self-determination of individuals.
It is MANDATORY for particulars , whether they are individuals or entities, to carry out personal data treatment. It expresses that all private entity (individual or company) must implement policies and procedures, as well as the needed mechanisms in human resources, legal, technology, infrastructure and security to comply with such Law.
